The Annual International Charles Town Maroon Conference and Festival was spawned by the Ancestor Quao Day Celebration. This celebration honoured a great warrior hero who fought for Jamaica’s freedom in the great Maroon Wars. Growing from a one day celebration to a 3-day conference and festival and from a local/national to an international event, the conference and festival today is a vehicle to celebrate, through education and entertainment, Maroon and by extension, indigenous cultures.
