Two, which are now hallmarks of the show, are the National Champion Farmer Competition, and the National Young Farmer Competition.

Emancipation Jubilee

Jamaica’s rich culture and heritage will be celebrated during the 21st staging of the Emancipation Jubilee at the Seville Heritage Park in St. Ann. The annual event, under the theme ‘Emancipation Jubilee: The Genesis’, will be held from July 31 into Emancipation Day on August 1. Emancipation Jubilee honours the contribution of our ancestors through song, dance, drumming, drama, food and fashion. Activities begin at 10:00 a.m. and will feature a farmers’ market, craft village, and food court offering traditional Jamaican cuisine. The highlight of the day will be the signature cultural concert beginning at 8:00 p.m. with the midnight reading of the 1838 Emancipation Proclamation, which granted freedom to slaves on the island.

This faith based event which started some 15 years ago has now bloomed into a full scale family enrichment event that seeks to provide uplifting, engaging and holistic experiences for visitors & Jamaicans. Some of the popular faith based artistes who performed at the last staging included: Donnie McClurkin, Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribett, Hezekiah Walker, Andrew Palau, Aaron T amongst others. This year promises to be just as electrifying with many of the representatives from the international churches attending the Fun In the Son event engaging in community based mission activities around the island prior to /or after the staging of the event.
